Over the past 2 and a bit days, our catering team has been very busy and hard at work providing meals for firefighters undertaking the Menai Llanberis Hazard Reduction.

The catering team worked over 14 hours in total, preparing and putting together snack packs and meals for the day and including a delicious Bolognese Pasta Bake with Garlic Bread dinner for Friday night 😋

A huge thanks to all our members and catering team who helped out over the past few days! Your work most definitely does not go unnoticed 🤩

🔥 HAZARD REDUCTION BURN – MENAI 🔥

Crews from across the Sutherland Shire and Illawarra are taking part in a hazard reduction burn at Menai today.

Crews from across the Shire and Illawarra are taking part, including Engadine, Illawong, Grays Point, Menai, Kurnell, Heathcote and Sandy Point are supporting the operation.

The burn is designed to reduce bush fire fuels and help protect nearby homes and our local community.

🌫️ Please be aware: There will be additional smoke in the area this afternoon and overnight, particularly as the weather cools and smoke settles.

While smoke is expected, if you see any uncontrolled flames or a fire that appears to be escaping the burn area, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while crews work to reduce bush fire risk in our community. 🚒

Where will you and your family go to stay safe?

Your family may not be together when you decide to leave, so it’s
important to organise a meeting place. Not all evacuation centres
cater for pets, so if you have pets, consider places that allow them to stay too.

Come along to Engadine Rural Fire Brigade on Sunday 20 September for our Get Ready Weekend, speak with your local emergency service people and get yourself prepared for the upcoming fire season.
