That development is a new mental health hub ❤️

🚧 Car Park Closure – 6–10 Steele Street 🚧

Please be advised that the car park at 6–10 Steele Street, Devonport will be closed from Monday 19 January 2026 to allow construction works to commence for the new mental health hub.

The site will remain closed for the duration of the construction project and is not expected to reopen until completion of the new building.

We understand this will cause some inconvenience and thank you for your patience while these important works are carried out. We encourage motorists to plan ahead and use alternative parking options in the CBD.

It’s been a week since the Devonport Surf Life Saving Club Pub 2 Club Ocean Swim and the wetsuit rub on my neck has almost healed.
It’s been on the bucket list for a while, something I knew would be a challenge.
Had I swum that far? Nope, an ocean swim? Unlikely. In fact, I finished dead last by quite a distance!
However, I think for 2026 it has set a tone for me.
“I can do difficult things” and effort is more important than outcome.

Looking forward to a great year with Devonport City Council. 🏊‍♂️

Just the best story for this time of year
🎅🏼 🎄 🎁

A mystery shopper has spread Christmas cheer in Tasmania’s north-west by paying off all outstanding laybys at Kmart Devonport.

The anonymous donor also donated to the store’s Wishing Tree Appeal, with staff and shoppers describing the gesture as overwhelmingly generous.

Kmart confirmed every layby in the store was cleared, providing welcome relief for families under cost-of-living pressure.

One grateful customer said the act came at the perfect time, calling the mystery shopper “such a generous human” who deserves “all the good in the world.”

People don’t like change. A lot will push against it.
Not everyone will use the app, and you can still pay with coins. You just need to find the parks closest to the meters. We have certainly heard the feedback and taken that on board.

We know there’s been a bit of confusion around how to pay for on-street parking, so here’s a quick reminder:

You can pay using card, coins, PayStay or EasyPark — and you can pay for any parking spot at any meter.

Did you know that over 80% of users already pay via the parking apps? It’s fast, easy and convenient, but all options are available so you can choose what works best for you.

Always a good discussion starter - should the “no” Show Holiday change for Devonport?
Worth noting both Latrobe and Kentish also take this Friday as a holiday and multiple engagement with the greater public like having a PH at the end of November - regardless of reason for it.
Personally I like the long weekend before hitting the Festive Season.

Many thanks to Neale who works within Devonport City Council Parks & Reserves services. He saw Vince and I tidying up my G-Grandfather and G-Grandmothers cemetery markers and came along with a bigger spade to lift them up. Vince thought we were about to get in trouble for digging in a cemetery!
I should have taken a before picture because they were basically hidden.
Council are in the process of lifting these markers up at Spreyton Lawn Cemetery and will be an ongoing big job… one of many the Parks and Reserves team do. 👌🏼🌳
