Today marks the start of National Road Safety Week. This year's theme is 'Pledge to Drive so Others Survive', giving us all an opportunity to make sure we're looking out for each other on the roads.

To start the week, it is important to remember the 1,300 lives lost on Australian roads each year. Over 40,000 people are also injured each year on our roads.

All road users have a small but important role to play in helping to reduce lives lost and injuries.

Emergency services have a vital role in responding to accidents, saving lives and making sure road users are driving safely. Shout out to the following Victorian emergency services that respond to incidents and proactively keep us safe:

CFA (Country Fire Authority)
Fire Rescue Victoria
Victoria State Emergency Service
Ambulance Victoria
Victoria Police
Echuca Moama Search & Rescue Squad
Shepparton Search and Rescue Squad

It’s been a busy day today for our Brigade.
This morning we were paged to a dog down a disused mine shaft.
Billy the dog had fallen approximately 5m but thankfully was ok. It’s a timely reminder that our area is covered in old shafts that are not overly visible a lot of the time, so please take care when walking in the bush!
Big thanks to FRV stations 67 and 68 along with CFA Oscar 1 for your help getting Billy back to his owners.

On top of this we have also been to a gas leak after a domestic line was cut by a shovel with support from Hepburn Fire Brigade and then a wash away as a result of a car accident with our colleagues from Musk Fire Brigade.

🤞that’s it for the day now

We had a special guest on Daylesford Tanker 1 today on the fireground in SA. The SA CFS Chief Officer jumped on as part of our crew to help with some arduous operations to help contain the Deep Creek Fire complex!
Was a pleasure having you on board Chief!

On the 17th anniversary of the February 2009 bushfires, we remember the countless people across our communities who were affected, and those who continue to feel the impacts to this day.

We honour the 173 people who lost their lives, the 400+ people who were injured and the thousands of emergency service personnel who responded throughout the course of the fires.

Together, we remember 🎗️

Our Tanker 1 has headed off to SA to help
Our colleagues with the Deep Creek Fire.
Good luck team ❤️
