This morning at playgroup, we took part in the National simultaneous storytime 2026. With supporting activities and experiences, the children had a great morning leading up to simultaneous storytime. 📖

We might not have read it at 12pm as playgroup finishes at 11am but we still all enjoyed a very 'adapted version' of the story. 😂👏
With parents joining in with the telling of the story, the children sat perfectly listening to the adventures of 'Luna Roo: Kangaroo Baller.' 💙♥️

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) 2026 takes place on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. At exactly 12:00 pm (AEST), over two million children across Australia will read the same book simultaneously to promote literacy and the joy of storytelling.

The selected picture book for 2026 is -
'Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller.'

Written by: Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd
Illustrated by: Jake A. Minton

The Story: It is an inspiring underdog tale about a young kangaroo named Luna who steps up as captain of her soccer team, FC Outback. The story focuses on teamwork, overcoming self-doubt, and finding inner strength.

What a lovely morning we had with our regular families, as well as some new families who joined us.

The children enjoyed a variety of activities and experiences that encouraged learning through play — from hands-on activities and exploring nature, to singing, dancing, and parachute play. Every experience helps children learn in a fun and playful way.

Our playgroup continues to be a warm, welcoming, and safe space for families to connect, share their stories, celebrate the wins, and support one another through the challenges. We are so grateful for the caring community we are building together.

CALD playgroup Driver Family Resouce Centre, 29 Driver Ave, Driver.
9am - 11am - bring morning tea for your child and join us for a fun filled, friendly and welcoming morning. :)

Although we had a small group today, there was still plenty of fun and laughter. The children had a great time on the building mat with the diggers and trucks, and enjoyed using shaving cream to stick blocks together for some messy sensory play.

We skipped singing and dancing today, as everyone was so engaged in adventurous outdoor play. It was lovely watching the children explore the yard, play together, and enjoy each other’s company.
