Amos Family Bicentennial - Tasmania

Amos Family Bicentennial - Tasmania Inform family, relatives and interested parties of the upcoming Bicentennial of the Amos Family, pioneer settlers of Tasmania. 1821 - 2021

The Amos family immigrated from Scotland and set foot in Hobart town on March 17th 1821. From there they settled at Cranbrook on the East Coast of Tasmania. 2021 marks 200 years since their arrival in Australia. The Amos name continues at Cranbrook and indeed across the South Pacific region.

Laid on 26th March are the 2nd round of pavers. Thanks to Mark Lawrence and Doug Poole for their work that neatly edged the pavers and worked in the new ones. It looks great and we hope the Amos diaspora continue to access this special site.

Recent social media posts have misled the public. The sale of Gala Kirk appears to have been finalized and sadly the community offer was unsuccessful. It has been sold to the Greenhill family, as private buyers, for yet to be disclosed commercial purposes.
The Amos family supported the community offer by Gala Kirk1845 Inc and their vision, for the continued public use of the Gala Kirk and cemetery. It is disappointing that we have yet to receive any formal notification from the Uniting Church.
