Thuringowa State High School is situated in Vickers Road South in the heart of Riverway in the City of Townsville. In its short history the school has developed a fine tradition for academic excellence, sporting and cultural achievement and vibrant community spirit. It is especially noted for its small size, range of opportunities, acclaimed theatre restaurant, a very successful and pioneering Vo

cational Education Program. Thuringowa State High School serves students in Years 7 to 12, predominantly from its neighbourhood suburbs of Condon, Rasmussen, Kelso and Kirwan. Our students come from varied social, cultural and economic backgrounds and we provide initiatives designed to cater for the needs of all groups. The school has developed a strong tradition of providing its students with a large number of educational opportunities with an emphasis on development and extension of the individual.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to explore potential career pathways, develop valuable workplace skills, and gain firsthand industry experience.

We encourage all Year 10 students to start thinking about their career interests and begin organising a placement as soon as possible. Students are responsible for securing their own placement, and family support throughout this process is greatly appreciated.

Once a placement is organised, ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ž ๐ซ๐ž๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค ๐ž๐ฑ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ ๐ญ๐จ ๐Œ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐Š๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐†๐’๐Ÿ ๐š๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐จ๐จ๐ง ๐š๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐›๐ฅ๐ž. Today, the inaugural winners of the โ€˜๐„๐š๐ญ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ค๐ž ๐š ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌโ€ฆ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌโ€™ competition were announced!

The Success Coaches and the PCL team rewarded the students in each year level who had received the most SPOTs over the last 2 weeks with a free catered lunch (Subway) with Mr Stumer!

These students had consistently demonstrated being ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ฅ, ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐š๐Ÿ๐ž throughout the school day and had been โ€˜SPOTTEDโ€™ by their teachers to win the competition.

Our U16 Girls made the long trip to Emerald for the Western 7s and came away undefeated champions after two days of outstanding rugby! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Taking on strong private school teams from across Central and South Western Queensland, the girls showed incredible toughness, teamwork and skill throughout the entire carnival.

A huge thank you to our great friends at the Emerald Jockey Club for hosting us once again, to Joe from Detours for getting us there and back safely, and to Queensland Rugby for putting on another fantastic event.

After travelling to Emerald for the past five years, this is the first time weโ€™ve brought home the championship โ€” a very special achievement for this group!

This week, 7 news shared a story about our Year 9 girls from the Stars Foundation at Thuringowa State High School who recently visited the Animal Care and Adoption Centre. During the visit, the students had the opportunity to meet the animals in care and show support for the amazing work the staff do. The girls learnt about the importance of animal welfare and being responsible pet owners.

This was a highlight of their Year 9 camp! ๐Ÿพ
