My frustration isn't really with who drafted the proposal, I'm well aware this is a Labor Government proposal, not something written solely by Jeremy Buckingham or the Legalise Cannabis Party.
What many patients and volunteers are asking is this: if concerns about the patient register, privacy implications, testing methods, thresholds, and the three-strike system were already known, why wasn't there stronger public opposition to those aspects from the outset? Jeremy was prominently involved in the announcement, so naturally people are looking to him and asking what amendments he intends to pursue and how these concerns will be addressed moving forward.
Volunteers didn't create the proposal, and patients certainly didn't. Many of us have spent years advocating for impairment-based testing, privacy protections, and equal treatment for prescribed medicinal cannabis patients. It's fair for people to ask what happens next, what changes are being sought, and who is pushing for them. That's not finger-pointing; it's seeking accountability and clarity on behalf of the community that helped drive this reform.
