✈️ Over the past 9 days, 7 Rivers Unit members have been deployed as part of a 20 strong ACT SES strike team in the Northern Territory.

🤝 Teams were sent to the town of Katherine to assist with the response and recovery from recent back-to-back major floods that have impacted the community.

Teams were faced with a range of taskings, from cutting up fallen trees, to helping clear out flooded houses. Additionally, teams worked alongside members from a range of jurisdictions, including the NT Emergency Service, SA SES, SA CFS, NSW SES and Fire Rescue Victoria.

🫶 A big thank you to all of our members’ families for supporting them while they put their lives on hold to assist the Northern Territory - they couldn't do it without you.

✈️ 7 Rivers Unit members are on their way to the Northern Territory as part of this deployment.

Stay safe everyone!

20 volunteers and three staff members from the ACT State Emergency Service are on their way to the Northern Territory to support recovery efforts following ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle.

The team will join crews from the SA State Emergency Service, and deploy into remote areas affected by flooding and storm damage, particularly around Katherine. ACTSES volunteers are highly trained in storm and flood response and will play an important role supporting impacted communities.

These deployments are an important opportunity for our volunteers to use their training in real-world conditions, build experience, and support communities when they need it most.

We wish them safe travels and thank them - and their families and employers - for supporting this deployment. Our thoughts are with all communities affected at this time.
