Glenalvon House will be open and welcoming visitors this Sunday 20 September from 10am to 1pm.
Built in 1840 and noted by the National Trust as a “fine example of a Georgian townhouse “ Glenalvon is in Lithgow Street, Campbelltown, right in the C*D.

Handmade & Homegrown Market will also be in Lithgow Street, so lots to see and do.

Flashback Friday: It's December 1964 and the three Springfield children have returned to their home "Amaroo" after seeing the Beatles arrive at Sydney Airport. Flashback Friday: It's the 1960s and work has started on the construction of 13 Lindesay Street. Jim Wright and his family will call this place home for many years. Jim's beloved Kombi Van is visible behind the foundations. Can you see the young boy in the photo?

So our volunteers can share the day with their families, Glenalvon will not be open on Sunday 6 September.
The next open morning will be Sunday 20 September 10am to 1pm.

Flashback Friday:
April 1948, and the first full post war Campbelltown Show is underway.
Exhibited will be fine horses and cattle along with sideshows, boxing, skating, dancing, acrobats and according to the Campbelltown News “the man who puts his head in the lion’s mouth”.
This ‘cow’ is cycling along Queen Street close by Browne Street.

Campbelltown Council has canceled the markets for tomorrow so we will not have our Open Day and Devonshire Tea morning at Glenavon either. Thanks to the CWA ladies who were prepared to work in the kitchen - we will look forward to seeing you next time.

Flashback Friday:
This wonderful but undated photo is of Billy Rixon next to an old-fashioned pram. The photo was taken in Howe Street.
This street once extended all the way to Cordeaux Street until it was blocked off in 1970 and made part of Mawson Park. Dr Mawson's old surgery in Cordeaux Street is in the background on the left (Clissold Collection).

Glenalvon House is at 8 Lithgow Street Campbelltown.
