Many people are not enamoured with Common Brushtailed Possums residing in their roof. I have installed many nest boxes to encourage them outside. Here is an example of what we may be missing out on. Possums are cool.

It may be a small inconvienence to a small number of cat owners but is a big win for native wildlife - nocturnal and diurnal alike.

We need your help! Darebin Parklands has been targeted by what we suspect are wildlife poachers who have come into the Parklands on weekends when park rangers are not on-site.

Poaching is a problem. One we tend not to hear about much but it happens. Keep your eyes open and help to stop it.

Conservationists have raised the alarm after rangers discovered that boxes perched high on trees for sugar gliders and microbats had been dismantled twice in December. https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/fears-poachers-have-taken-sugar-gliders-and-bats-from-darebin-parklands-20260316-p5oaze.html?utm_content=feed&utm_term=metros_social_eds&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=the_age&utm_source=Facebook =1774132899

The resilience of some species will never cease to amaze me.

The resilience of some species will never cease to amaze me.

Once extinct in south-west NSW, these tiny marsupials are bouncing back! 💪

22 Red-tailed Phascogales have been spotted on motion-sensor cameras at our Scotia Wildlife Sanctuary on Barkindji Country in NSW - just 4 months after release into the 8,000-hectare feral predator-free area.

At only 20cm long and 68g, they’re notoriously elusive, making these early sightings a huge conservation win.

Thanks to careful planning, long-term partnerships, and a national reintroduction program, this species is taking its first steps toward a self-sustaining population in NSW for the first time in over a century.
