Before the parks, before the tours, before the experiences people travel across the world for… there was a vision.

Pip and Charles Woodward saw something more — not just land, but the potential to create meaningful connections with this region, its wildlife, and the people who visit it.

The second image captures the property at Rainforestation in 1980 — long before it became what so many know and love today.

This week, that legacy was recognised, with Pip and Charles honoured as Life Members by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council.

Their story lives on in every visit, every experience, and every moment spent exploring Tropical North Queensland.

We’re proud to carry that forward.

A proud moment for the CaPTA family — Tropic Wings has been awarded Outstanding Employer of the Year at the QBIC Awards.

This recognition highlights what matters most to us as a family-owned business — creating a positive workplace, supporting our team, and investing in people.

From transport to wildlife experiences, everything we do across CaPTA is built on the strength of our team.

This award reflects the culture we’ve worked hard to build over nearly 50 years — one based on care, connection, and community.

Tropic Wings will now go on to represent Queensland at the national awards later this year.

👉 When you travel with a CaPTA experience, you’re supporting a team that values people just as much as the places we share.

We’re proud to share that our Managing Director, Peter Woodward, has been appointed Deputy Chair of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC).

QTIC plays a vital role in shaping the future of tourism across Queensland — advocating for sustainable growth, workforce development, aviation access and policy settings that support operators across the state.

For our team, this appointment reflects more than leadership. It represents the opportunity to help strengthen Queensland’s visitor economy while staying true to the values that have guided CaPTA for over 50 years — family, conservation and connection.

Congratulations to Elsa D’Alessio on her reappointment as Chair, and to Peter on his new role as Deputy Chair.

We look forward to continuing to contribute to a strong, resilient future for Queensland tourism.

Before the first pickup. Before the road trips begin.

One of our driver guides captured this rainbow stretching across our Cairns depot just as the morning light broke through.

Tropic Wings operates fully electric buses on all Kuranda tours, helping reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 30 tonnes each year — alongside practical sustainability initiatives woven into our daily operations.

It felt like a fitting way to start the day in Far North Queensland.

Explore Tropical North Queensland with a lighter footprint.

Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas — one of the CaPTA Group’s wildlife parks — is featured in The Lush Life domestic campaign by Tourism Port Douglas Daintree.

Wildlife Habitat is both a standalone Port Douglas experience and one of several CaPTA parks visited on Tropic Wings tours, giving travellers a deeper connection to the region’s wildlife, landscapes and conservation stories.

Destination-led campaigns like The Lush Life play an important role in encouraging Australians to explore Port Douglas and the Daintree — particularly during the March–June shoulder season.

Proud to support the region we call home. 🌿

Cairns Koalas & Creatures, Cairns City A rainy Cairns day, done the right way 🌧️🌿

We loved seeing the Cairns Chamber of Commerce enjoy a visit to Cairns Koalas & Creatures — a relaxed, indoor wildlife experience that locals and visitors can enjoy any day of the year.

Cairns Koalas & Creatures is proudly part of the CaPTA Group, offering everyday opportunities to connect with Australian wildlife right in the heart of the city — rain or shine.

Thanks to the Cairns Chamber of Commerce for sharing the visit and for continuing to support local tourism and community experiences 💚
