Meet Lachlan 👋

Lachlan is one of our wonderful participants with goals to find meaningful, suitable employment but like many of us, he knows that building confidence and strengthening his skills is an important first step.

Through Lachlan’s NDIS plan, he’s able to engage in Discover Me a fun, supportive, and empowering program designed to help participants better understand who they are, what they’re capable of, and where they want to go. It’s all about building confidence, exploring strengths, developing practical skills, and stepping into opportunities feeling prepared and self-assured.

For Lachlan, this means not just working towards a job but becoming confident in himself, backing his abilities, and gaining the tools he needs to succeed in the workplace and beyond.

Today, we learn about about ADHD which is an important step toward understanding how different minds work and how to provide the right treatment. 🧡

ADHD isn’t just about being “distracted” or “overreactive”. It’s a neurodevelopmental condition that can influence focus, impulse control, and energy levels in unique ways. With the right knowledge, strategies, and support systems in place, individuals with ADHD can thrive in their daily lives. 🌼

Taking the time to learn about ADHD helps reduce stigma, build empathy, and create more inclusive environments. 🧡

Big news for our community 🧡

A new Medicare Mental Health Centre is now open, making it easier than ever for locals to access free, walk-in mental health support close to home. This is part of a major national rollout, with 92 centres across Australia, including 24 right here in Queensland that are helping ensure no one has to face mental health challenges alone.

This is a huge step forward in breaking down barriers to care, providing immediate support when it’s needed most, and strengthening the wellbeing of our community.

The NDIS has recently updated its guideline language, shifting from Short Term Accommodation to Short Term Respite. Whilst it may seem like a small change, it reflects something bigger: a renewed focus on what truly matters - rest, support, and meaningful experiences for both participants and their support networks.

Our respite services are designed to provide more than just support during some time away, we offer a chance to recharge, build confidence and feel genuinely supported in a safe, nurturing environment.

The update aligns perfectly with our mission: creating safe spaces where participants feel valued, empowered and cared for.

Last month, our Operations Manager, Cory and her husband proudly volunteered to give back alongside the incredible team at The Christmas Party! Australia’s largest Christmas party for children with disabilities and complex needs. This free, invitation-only event welcomes children from birth to 12 years old from across Australia, creating a safe, joyful space made possible through the generosity of sponsors, community donations, and the support of hundreds of charities, schools, and service providers who help nominate children to attend.

Seeing the pure joy on their faces was truly priceless, a powerful reminder of what community and kindness can achieve together. 🎄✨
