🐍 Why Does a Snake Catcher Charge a Call-Out Fee? 🐍

We get asked this question a lot, so we thought we’d explain! 😊

When you call a snake catcher, you’re not just paying for the few minutes it may take to catch and relocate a snake.

A call-out fee helps cover the time, travel, fuel, equipment, insurance, training and experience required to safely attend your property — often at short notice and sometimes after hours.

🐍 What you’re really paying for includes:

✔️ The trip to your property
✔️ Professional snake-catching equipment
✔️ Years of experience and training
✔️ Public liability and business insurance
✔️ The time spent locating and safely removing the snake
✔️ Safe relocation where appropriate
✔️ The risk involved in handling potentially dangerous wildlife
✔️ The time spent travelling back to base

And sometimes, after arriving, the snake has disappeared into a wall, roof, garden or another hiding spot. Even if the snake isn’t caught, the catcher has still made the journey, assessed the situation and provided professional advice.

🚗 Think of it like calling any mobile professional: you’re paying for their expertise, time and travel — not simply the minutes they spend at your property.

Snake catching can also be unpredictable. A job that looks like it will take 10 minutes can sometimes turn into a much longer search.

Most importantly, never attempt to catch or handle a snake yourself. Give it space, keep children and pets away, and call a qualified snake catcher.
