Nearly 8 months into my first term as an elected member for the City of Bunbury!

What I've come to value most is the complexity of local government organisations. It’s a humbling and vital role that demands robust governance and oversight.

What have I learned so far -:
* That Role Clarity is really important.
* That as a councillor I need to focus on strategic, long-term decisions that help shape our City's plan to meet current and future needs.
* That growing community and service delivery pressures exist.
* That I stay in my lane and understand strategic tasks versus operational tasks.
* Questions about potholes, neighbour disputes , planning permit applications and similar, need to be directed to our community portal for the most efficient outcome - https://portal.bunbury.wa.gov.au/
* To remember to represent and listen to the whole community, not just my 'patch'.

As a councillor, I am committed to fostering a zero-tolerance culture towards incivility by modeling respectful behaviour, encouraging open conversations, and promoting inclusivity within our community.

Thank you to those who take the time to meet with me for coffee to further understand the decisions I've made in my voting. I appreciate the engagement!

♿ A venue for everyone ♿
When we invested in the Hands Memorial Oval precinct, accessibility wasn’t an afterthought – it was part of the plan.

ACROD parking. Accessible viewing platforms. Improved pathways. Companion seating. Accessible amenities. This is a community venue designed to make sure nobody is left out – whether it’s a Saturday afternoon of local footy, a community event, or a nationally broadcast AFL match.

We’re proud of what this precinct offers, and we’re committed to continuing to improve it.

If you or someone you know has accessibility needs ahead of the AFL match on 6 June, we’re here to help – give us a call on 9792 7000.

Thanks Milligan.and City of Bunbury for this fabulous community initiative.

♻️ Did you know there's a FREE market happening right here in Bunbury every month?

Since 2018, Milligan. has been running a Really Really Free Market (RRFM) on the third Saturday of each month - and it's exactly what it sounds like.

Everything is free. Bring what you don't need, take what you want. Simple as that! 🙌

Where: Milligan
When: Third Saturday of every month (including this Saturday!)
Time: 9.30am - 11am
Cost: Absolutely nothing

Here's what makes it amazing:
🍲 Free food - cooked fresh from Milligan's vegie gardens, FoodBank and SecondBite
🔧 Free repairs - thanks to the Greater Bunbury Repair Café
🎁 Free stuff - clothes, books, homewares, plants and... the occasional hot dog costume 🌭😂
👥 300+ people turn up each month

And here's the bit we really love:
In just seven months of tracking, the RRFM has diverted over 12 tonnes of materials from landfill - that's the circular economy in action, right here in our community!

Leftover items don't go to waste either. Volunteers deliver them to op shops across the region, drop off shoes and e-waste for recycling, cut fabric into reusable rags, and display items at Milligan for clients throughout the month.

The City of Bunbury Waste Education Team proudly partners with Milligan to help capture data, reduce waste and share tips with the community. The rules are simple:
- Bring what you don't need
- Take what you want
- If no one takes it, take it home again

It's not just a market. It's generosity, connection and sustainability all rolled into one 💚
