PREP TEDDY BEARS PICNIC // Our Prep students enjoyed a special Teddy Bears’ Picnic this week.

Students danced and sang with their teddy bears, enjoyed morning tea together and took part in a fun scavenger hunt.

The experience also linked beautifully with our English unit on recounts. After the picnic, students orally recounted the event, sequencing and sharing what they did and experienced throughout the morning.

A lovely morning of learning, laughter and lots of teddy bear fun!

JUNIOR ASSEMBLIES // Our Junior Assemblies were a wonderful opportunity to come together and celebrate some of the great things happening across our lower school!

A big congratulations to our Gotcha winners, Ollie, Ryan and Jurnee, and to our Premier’s Reading Challenge winners for the week, Matilda and Maverick.

We also celebrated our latest GROW Well Award recipients, recognising students who have been demonstrating positive character strengths and making a difference in our school community.

A special congratulations to 1W, who did a fantastic job leading us in the National Anthem.

Well done to all of our students who were recognised this week!

YEAR 3 SCIENCE IN ACTION // Our Year 3 students took their science learning outdoors with a fun Science Scavenger Hunt.

Working collaboratively in teams, students put their knowledge to the test as they answered questions and revised key concepts from their Term 4 unit, including heat transfer, conductors and insulators, fair testing, and staying safe when working with heat.

It was fantastic to see students sharing their ideas, applying their scientific knowledge, and working so well together!

GUMDALE READS // What better way to finish our Gumdale Reads celebrations than with some of the books that have been part of our reading journey this term.

Mrs Bruce shared her favourite childhood classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Our Preps also showcased some of the books they enjoyed during their English units, including books shortlisted by the Children's Book Council of Australia.

We hope everyone enjoyed our Book Week celebrations and all the opportunities to share a love of reading across the school.

With the long weekend ahead, we hope you find plenty of time to curl up with one of your favourite books and enjoy a good read!
