We’re proud to share that our HR & WHS Team has been named the 2026 People First Award winners at the Property Council of Australia - Queensland’s People in Property Awards. 🏆.

This achievement reflects the meaningful work happening across BHC to support our people – through initiatives that strengthen wellbeing, inclusion and connection in everything we do.

“At BHC, we are proud to be a part of a sector that supports people through some of the most challenging moments… this award really belongs to our people across BHC.” – Christelle, Human Resources Director.

Congratulations to our HR & WHS Team and to everyone across BHC who contributes to creating a truly people-first organisation.

We also want to acknowledge our Operations Team, who were finalists for Team of the Year. Your professionalism, dedication and the impact you create for our residents every day is something we’re incredibly proud of.

💼 Thinking about seasonal work?

Seasonal jobs can be a great way to get your foot in the door, build confidence, meet new people or try something new without long-term commitment. Many roles don't require prior experience and offer flexible, short-term work.

In Brisbane this year, there are some well-known opportunities coming up:
🎡 The Ekka (Royal Queensland Show)
📊 The ABS Census
🎭 Brisbane Festival

🌅🚶For the 7th year, the BHC team will be stepping up for Challenge DV's this Friday.

This is an event that continues to hold deep meaning for us. Each year, we come together to walk or run in support for those impacted by domestic and family violence, and stand alongside a community committed to change.

In Australia, an average of 110 lives are lost each year to domestic and family violence, and the 110km run is a powerful tribute, with each kilometre representing a life taken too soon.

If you’d like to support our team in the lead up to this event, you can donate here: https://loom.ly/MRE9Luk

Together, we move forward - from darkness into daylight.

What a fantastic turn out for our staff Australia's Bake-off! 🧁👩‍🍳

A big thank you to everyone across the team who baked, donated and joined us this year. Together, we've raised almost $300 for the Cancer Council Australia.

Volunteering is about being there when it matters 💙

As part of National Volunteer Week (18–24 May), we’re also proud to share James’ story - a BHC resident whose long‑standing commitment to volunteering has supported many people through some of life’s most challenging moments.

Through chaplaincy work and simply being present to listen, James’ approach to volunteering is grounded in empathy, trust and connection.

Today, James continues to quietly make a difference by being exactly what people need in that moment: a steady presence, a listening ear, and reassurance that they don’t have to face things alone.

Last week, the BHC Tenancy team attended Homeless Connect, hosted by Brisbane City Council.

Having supported this event for many years, it’s always a meaningful opportunity to connect with the community and work alongside other organisations supporting people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

From healthcare and essential items to housing and employment pathways, Homeless Connect brings together the services people need in one place.

This National Volunteer Week, we're proud to share Don's Story! 🧡

For more than 15 years, BHC resident Don has been quietly giving back through volunteering at Brisbane hospitals. What began as a way to say thank you after his own open‑heart surgery has grown into years of supporting patients, carers and hospital staff with compassion, care and dedication.

From helping behind the scenes in hospital triage to supporting people recovering from surgery, Don’s story is a powerful reminder that volunteering doesn’t always look big - but it can make a big difference.

Pancakes and purpose at BHC last week! 🥞🌈

Our Vibrant Voices team hosted our annual pancake breakfast, bringing staff together for a morning of connection, learning and reflection.

With a focus on allyship and inclusion, the session encouraged simple actions - like introducing ourselves with our pronouns and using inclusive language - to help create a workplace where everyone feels respected and supported.

Thanks to everyone who attended and helped make it such a meaningful event.
