Could be a long wait!!

Bribie Island | Emergency services are currently on scene at an unfolding incident in the vicinity of the Bribie Island Bridge.

Traffic is at a complete standstill, with police actively searching the area and rescue crews operating below on the water. Reports also indicate a helicopter is assisting overhead.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and expect delays.

Bribie Island | The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a fatal traffic crash at Bellara, on Bribie Island this morning, 25 February.

Initial investigations indicate around 9.15am, a Kymco motorbike and a Kia Sorento collided on Sunderland Drive.

The rider of the motorbike, a 65-year-old Bongaree woman, was initially treated at the scene but declared deceased a short time later.

The driver of the Kia, an 84-year-old Banksia Beach man, did not sustain any physical injuries and is assisting police with enquiries.

Anyone who may have been travelling in the area around the time of the crash and may have relevant vision or information is urged to contact police.
