Over 40 years ago, a local High school was seeking a volunteer to coach the local school basketball team. Mike Kapnoullas along with his wife Lorrraine Kapnoullas put up their hands to volunteer for this role. The steam soon entered into the first year of opeinig at the Diamond Valley Basketball Stadium on Civic Drive Greensborough in the DVBA competition. From this day, kids were invested in for
the wonderful individuals they were reognised to be. With Mike focusing on kids health, speed and endurance and Lorraine providing the nurturing and encouraging approach. This combination along with the skilful years of basketball knowledge, created a new successful generation girls Basketball Club before their eyes. With numerous National, State and Reprentative basketball players developed along the way. Mike and Lorraine would often pick up teams in seperate cars to ensure those who could get to a game, had the opportunity to participate. Their view to have kids particpating in a game of sport, a way of keeping them occupied and off the streets. Whilst many families and parents supported the Rosanna East Basketball Club, a very special mention must also be stated for each and every basketball coach who has volunterd their time and invested in the values of this club.
