EQ Fundamental Series

The EQ Fundamental Series includes educational videos to support Equestrian Queensland (EQ) members and all equestrians on their journey of mastering the foundations to successfully re-train an ex racehorse.

This project has been funded by the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission - QRIC through their Racing Animal Welfare Grants Program and will support the promotion of "life after racing", training and opportunities for new careers and enhance welfare and safety. The EQ Fundamental Series initiative will promote high quality health care to retired race horses on their transition from the racing industry.

Congratulations to Sienna and her OTT Articus.
They recently competed at the CQLX Showjumping competition held by the Rockhampton Equestrian Group.
They received 4th place in the 80cm phase, 4th in 70cm AM5, and 2nd in 80cm AM5.
Along the way, they have also competed in three State Pony Club Championships, one Interschool Showjumping, and numerous Pony Club and EA competitions.
The duo is excited to compete in the 80cm introductory ODE in Maryborough in September.
Articus’s retraining was partly funded by the Commission’s Racing Animal Welfare Grant in partnership with Transitioning Thoroughbreds Foundation and with re-trainer Kate Dreverman.
We can’t wait for Sienna’s Maryborough results.

Thanks everyone for a wonderful weekend of show jumping. Austadium is a great venue, it was lovely seeing all the people sitting in the stands watching the action.
Special mention to Queensland Off The Track for sponsoring the event, we thank them for their ongoing support of equestrian events in our region.
Thanks to Terri Langdon for course designing and judging, Peter for pencilling, Phil for being our First Aid Officer and Haydie & Alex for coming to the rescue when we needed transport Saturday morning. Thanks to everyone who helped on the gate, picked up rails and raked the sand. A huge thanks to Keith and everyone who helped pack the jumps onto the trailer this afternoon, it was really appreciated.
We're back at Central Queensland Livestock Exchange - CQLX in two weeks time, we hope to see you there. The program will be available tomorrow, entries close Monday 29th August.

Keep an eye out for Jasmine's photos, Equine Collective - I've had a sneaky peak at some of her shots, they're lovely.

A wonderful update from Krystin Peach and her OTT Sarge Brigarde.
I just wanted to say a huge thank-you for the sponsorship of the OTT classes at the 2nd leg of the Great Southern OTT Series. My horse Sarge Brigarde (Charge Forward- Mists of Avalon) placed first in both Preliminary Dressage tests. Here’s a photo from his race days & from Sunday (race trainer Jade Doolan).
Regards Krystin Peach

Reduce your risk of Hendra Virus (HeV).
• Horse owners have a legal obligation to take all reasonable and practical measures to reduce the spread of HeV.
• HeV can be fatal for humans and horses.
• HeV is spread to horses from flying foxes and humans can become infected from horses.
• Vaccinating your horse is the easiest and most effective way to prevent Hendra Virus.
• If your horse is unwell, lethargic, or has neurological or respiratory symptoms then HeV must be suspected. Contact your veterinarian and exercise good biosecurity.
