At Kalgoorlie School of the Air we work in close cooperation with the school community to provide a learning environment that reflects education as the shared responsibility of students, teachers, home tutors and parents. Our little adventurer has been out and about exploring some amazing places with our Kalgoorlie School of the Air families, and we have to admit… we're feeling a little jealous back here at school! 😂💛

DUSTY’S TRAVELS!

Dusty has certainly been clocking up the kilometres lately!

From travelling across Australia to adventures all the way over in America, our little camel is becoming quite the world traveller!

And his passport isn’t being packed away just yet…

Next term, a few of our students are heading overseas, and some of our teachers have adventures of their own planned too — which means Dusty will be tagging along and seeing even more of the world! 🌎🐪

We absolutely love seeing where Dusty pops up next, whether it’s somewhere around the corner, across Australia or on the other side of the world.

🎭 What a week at Term 3 Drama Camp!

Our students have been busy making props and costumes, practising for tonight’s big production and talent show, and taking part in swimming lessons each day. Here are a few photos of the hard work and fun along the way! 📸🏊

Happy RRED Day! 🔴

Today we celebrate Rural and Remote Education Day (RRED Day) and the incredible students, families, home tutors, teachers and communities who make rural and remote education so special.

At Kalgoorlie School of the Air, learning happens everywhere. On stations, across the Goldfields, on the road and from some of the most remote corners of Australia. 📚💻🌏

Distance may separate our classrooms, but it certainly doesn’t stop us from learning, connecting and being part of one school community.

Today we’re especially proud of our students and the wonderful families supporting their learning every day.

📚 Dusty’s Reading Challenge: Missions 5 and 6
For Mission 5, our Adventure Readers took their books somewhere new. We’ve loved seeing the places they chose!
Mission 6 is Read with a Torch. Find a cosy spot, switch on your torch and enjoy a story by its light. 🔦
This is the final week of the challenge, as next week is camp. Please send in your Mission 5 and 6 photos and finish any remaining missions by the end of this week.

📚 WA Student Assistance Payment – Reminder

A friendly reminder to families to claim the 2026 WA Student Assistance Payment if you haven’t already.

Eligible families can receive:
• $150 for each Kindergarten and primary school student
• $250 for each secondary school student

To make a claim, you will need your child’s WA Student Number (WASN). This can be found on the front page of their Semester 1 school report. If you are unable to locate your child’s WASN, please contact the school office and we can assist.

⏰ Claims close Friday, 25 September 2026.

The ServiceWA app is the fastest and most convenient way to claim.

Don’t forget to claim before the closing date! 😊

📚🐪 Dusty’s Reading Challenge Update! 🐪📚
Dusty has been VERY busy joining our students on their reading adventures!
Over the past four missions, our readers have:
🕵️ Found secret hiding spots
🌳 Taken their books outdoors
💕 Shared stories with reading buddies
🎭 Brought their favourite book characters to life
From caravans, cubby houses and tyre swings to treetops, rock pools and cosy reading corners, our students have found some wonderfully creative ways to enjoy their books! 📖✨
A huge thank you to everyone who has joined in and sent us photos. We have loved seeing where Dusty’s reading adventures have taken him!
