Miindala

Miindala Miindala has been providing support for people navigating death & grief in Bellingen since 2007.

We offer voluntary 1-1 care, education and community events on death, dying and grief, to help people process and heal from loss in meaningful ways.

18 beautiful people joined us this past weekend for our Volunteer Support Training in Grief & Loss and we are still feeling full from it...

We explored how to hold space for people who are grieving, looked honestly at our own relationships to loss, how much we can sit with our own emotions and trust others in theirs. We touched into Earth grief; the importance of feeling what is happening to our world rather than turning away from it. Sunday took us into death and dying, getting deep and also wonderfully practical.

We are always so moved by the people who come to these trainings. Their courage and their openness, their stories and their commitment to not looking away from some of life’s hardest and often most meaningful experiences.

Many will go on to become Grief Companion volunteers, offering free grief support to people in our community. If that's you, or someone around you ~ please keep us in mind and reach out.

“I feel warmed, and I feel peaceful, and I feel supported.” 🌱 Hear a brief reflection from one of our wonderful Death Café attendees, Dusty, about her experience at our last meeting in Bellingen!

Our upcoming Death Café is this Sunday, May 3rd, 10.30am in Bellingen, at the Scout Hall (12 Bowra St).

It can be difficult to describe the energy of a Death Café — the feeling of community solidarity, respect & care that fills the room; the sense of collective honesty and safety, the invitation to drop in to the truth of how you’re really feeling, and to share if you feel called to do so.

As such, we thought it best to allow our participants to share their thoughts directly, in the hope that anyone curious about coming along may have a ‘question’ answered!

If you’d like to join us, please register for your free ticket at the link in our bio. 🔗 If you have any questions, feel free to send us a message & one of our volunteer facilitators will be in touch with answers. ✉️

We’d love to see you this weekend! 🙏

We welcome you along to our next Death Cafe in May… an inclusive, open space to gather in conversation about death, dying and all that surrounds it.

This is a place to open to the conversations so often pushed to the edges... where we welcome them with honesty and realness.

Together, we will share tea, something sweet, and then break into smaller groups to connect, listen and to remember our place in the great cycle of things.

You might hear reflections on grief and love, fear and forgiveness… and many other human things that often bring tears, laughter and relief.

Whether you feel curious, tender, uncertain, or have no idea why you feel called… we encourage you along!

Please reach out if you’d like to chat to any of the facilitators before 🧡

You don’t need answers to talk about death… but we all have questions! If you’ve been quietly thinking about death, grief or loss — you’re not the only one. Sometimes we just need the right place to share, speak or simply listen among other curious & kind humans.

Death Cafe offers a simple, thoughtful space to explore those conversations in good company.
It’s not therapy, and it’s not a support group. It’s a welcoming, relaxed participant-led conversation space with no agenda & no expectations.
Just a small circle, tea and cake, and room to speak or to listen.

We’re gathering this Sunday at 10.30am at Scout Hall in Bellingen.

If you’ve been waiting for somewhere to have these conversations — we’d be glad to welcome you. Attendance is free, but places are limited - RSVP via Humanitix to reserve your seat at the table. Tea, coffee & cake are provided!

A gentle reminder that our Silent Vigil is happening today at 6pm.

We’re sorry to share that the Gumbaynggirr custodians are no longer able to join us, so there won’t be a smoking ceremony this time. Instead, we’ll be holding a small, quiet space with water ~ a simple moment of connection and reflection together.

Please bring an umbrella, some native leaves or flowers, and a candle if you can.

We’ll gather for about half an hour, rain or shine.

See you at 6pm. 🌿🕯️💧
