🚒 June is Men’s Mental Health Month 🚒

As first responders, we spend a lot of our time checking in on others. We show up when people need help most, offer support during difficult times, and look out for our communities every day.

This month is a reminder to take a moment to check in on ourselves too.

Reach out to your mates. Have a conversation with your dad, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, colleague or fellow first responder. Sometimes a simple “R u ok ?” can make all the difference.

Mental health is just as important as physical health, and looking after yourself is not a sign of weakness—it’s a sign of strength.

At Station 307, we’re encouraging everyone to take the time to connect, check in, and support the men in their lives.

Because no one should have to carry the weight alone.

BYRON BAY: Smoke in the area

Yesterday, our crew responded to reports of smoke in the area.

After investigating, our firefighters confirmed the smoke was coming from a controlled burn and no emergency action was required.

Thinking about conducting a burn on your property? Make sure you have the appropriate permit and notify your neighbours beforehand. This can help prevent unnecessary Triple Zero (000) calls and emergency responses.

Visit the Fire and Rescue NSW website via the link in our bio for information on permits, requirements and safe burning practices.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting members of the Wategos Community Fire Unit for a training session focused on locating fire hydrants and using standpipes.

Community Fire Units are made up of local residents living in urban areas close to higher risk bushland who volunteer their time to help build safer and more resilient communities.

Through ongoing training and support from Fire and Rescue NSW, CFU members learn how to prepare themselves, their families and their community.

Training sessions like these help ensure volunteers remain familiar with local firefighting infrastructure and ready to support their neighbourhoods when needed.

A big thank you to the Wategos CFU volunteers for their commitment to community safety and for continuing to develop their skills.

TODAY: Our crew responded to reports of a damaged fire service water line at a local commercial complex.

Firefighters attended to assess the damage, ensure the area was safe.

While not every call involves flames or smoke, incidents involving essential fire safety infrastructure are an important part of what we do to help keep our community safe.

Remember to take extra care when driving and manoeuvring around car parks, commercial premises and built-up areas. A moment of extra care can help prevent damage to critical infrastructure and avoid unnecessary disruption to businesses and the community.
