🚨 IMPORTANT BUSHFIRE SEASON UPDATE – ALTON DOWNS RESIDENTS

Due to increasingly unfavourable weather conditions and significant fuel loads across the Alton Downs area, the local Fire Warden has made the decision to cease issuing all new fire permits, effective immediately.

This decision has been made to protect our community and support the dedicated Rural Fire Brigade volunteers who have been working tirelessly over recent weeks responding to unplanned fires.

With bushfire activity already occurring this early in the season, now is the time to prepare your property. Don’t wait until conditions worsen—clear excess vegetation where appropriate, check your fire plan, and make sure your family knows what to do if a bushfire threatens.

⚠️ Please take this update seriously. Conditions can change quickly, and early preparation is one of the most effective ways to protect your family, your property, and our community.

ALTON DOWNS FIRECALL🔥

Alton Downs, The Caves, Stanwell and Gracemere RFB’s and Fire and Rescue crews from Rockhampton are currently on scene of a large grassfire in Alton Downs near the corner of Ridgelands Rd and Woodford Rd.

If you are in the area please stay clear to let firefighters contain the blaze.

This post will not be updated, there is currently (as of 13:25) an ADVICE - STAY INFORMED message posted for the area.

Please stay up to date on any future warnings on the Queensland Fire Department page.

Last Thursday we responded to a large grass fire burning on a property in Ridgelands. More info regarding this call will be released in our monthly call outs post coming in the following days.

Alton Downs and other FRS & RFS resources are currently responding to a large grassfire in Ridgelands along the Stanwell Waroula Rd.

Burnett Highway: The Burnett Highway is currently closed between Leydens Hill Road and Poison Creek Road due to a grass fire. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

RFS crews have returned to Moongan (near Mt Morgan) today after a large fire broke out yesterday. Over 15 appliances were on scene with resources required to come from the Yeppoon area to assist local crews. Alton Downs are on scene with Central 71 to assist in water replenishments for attacking appliances.

If you are in the area today we ask you stay clear of firefighters working and respect all road closures.
