SafeGround

SafeGround Through applied research, education and advocacy SafeGround works to restore the lives and livelihoods of those affected by explosive remnants of war.

SafeGround works to minimise the impacts of war by advocating a ban or limit the use of indiscriminate weapons of legacy such as landmines and cluster bombs. We conduct in-depth research to get accurate information about the problems we address, and use this research to raise public awareness on the impacts of war and begin conversations on the impact of ERW in regions around the world. So far, Sa

feGround has been part of creating two international treaties, the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty and the 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions. As a member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, we are co-recipient of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize. SafeGround was incorporated in the early 1990’s as the International Campaign to Ban Landmines – Australian Network Inc (ICBL-AN) and later became the Australian Network to Ban Landmines and Cluster Munitions (ANBLC) Inc. In 2013 we became SafeGround Inc. SafeGround is registered in Adelaide, Australia.
