Turkish Provincial Reconstruction Team - Jawzjan & Sar-i Pul

The Turkish Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Shibirghan, Capital of Jawzjan Province, was inaugurated on 21 July 2010 by Turkish Foreign Minister H.E. Ahmet Davutoglu. Turkish PRT covers also Sar-i Pul Province in its Area of Operation. On 15 April 2010, Turkey and Sweden have agreed that Swedish-led PRT Mazar-e Sharif (MeS) and PRT Jawzjan will have concurrent responsibilities for the development and capacity building efforts in both Jawzjan and Sar-i Pul Provinces. The PRT Jawzjan is the second Turkish PRT in Afghanistan after the one in Wardak Province which operates since 2006. Like in Wardak, the PRT Jawzjan has a civilian-led structure reinforced by experts and advisors from the relevant Turkish Ministries. The military unit of the PRT is responsible for the protection of PRT's personnel and compound and liaison with ISAF structures.
