The International conference, “Protection of Children in the Digital Environment: Modern Tools and International Cooperation”, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, on December 23, 2025, convened leading experts, policymakers, and international organizations to address the evolving challenges faced in today’s digital landscape. Organized by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children’s Affaires of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and with ICESCO’s active participation, the event created of a dynamic platform for dialogue and collaboration.
United under the conference theme, participants explored innovative tools, shared best practices, and developed cooperative strategies to build safer, more inclusive digital environments for children from diverse cultural backgrounds. The event reaffirmed the importance of international cooperation and the collective responsibility to protect children in the rapidly changing digital era.
The adoption of the Declaration on the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment in 2026 marks another significant milestone in Azerbaijan’s commitment to human-centered development. The declaration culminates collective efforts and commitment to ensure the rights and well-being of children in the digital environment are respected and preserved. This includes emphasizing improvements to legislative and institutional regulations and frameworks, highlighting the family’s role in protecting children, and sharing best practices and innovative approaches to address this emerging issue.
Affirming The Republic of Azerbaijan’s commitment to empowering youth and women and promoting a sustainable and peaceful society, Azerbaijan continues to demonstrate a visionary leadership aligned with the strong strategic vision of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), rooted in investing in youth and women as a cornerstone for peace and sustainable development.
It is noteworthy to recall Azerbaijan’s key role in the ByYouthForYouth Forum in 2024, which resulted in the adoption of the “Baku-Shusha Youth Plan of Action for a Sustainable Future in the Islamic World”, a framework that showcases the collective effort of the young leaders to address key global issues. This underscores Azerbaijan’s unwavering dedication to youth and children empowerment, and to sustainable development. It also reinforces the shared vision between Azerbaijan and ICESCO to foster sustainable peace and inclusive growth and to build resilient societies across the Islamic world.
